Former Yankee Pitcher Charged with DUI in L.A.
Last Tuesday, it is reported that well-known Yankee Pitcher Hideki Irabu was charged with driving under the influence (DUI) in Los Angeles, California. Police say that they pulled over Irabu in the South suburbs on May 17th.
Irabu was stopped on Redondo Beach Blvd., which is very close to his residence in Rancho Palos Verdes. Officers decided to conduct a DUI stop after they saw Irabu's vehicle drifting outside of marked traffic lanes. At 2 AM, they booked Irabu for DUI and the following morning, he was released after paying $5,000 bail.
After Irabu's Major League Baseball career failed, he returned to Japan and then decided to retire in South Los Angeles. Police say that this is the first time Irabu has been charged with DUI, but that the former MLB star may be susceptible to the trial ignition interlock law which is spreading in Los Angeles County.
